The Best Lies Series - If I Only Knew Why

Ever been blindsided?

Maybe it was an accident, or a sudden work transition, or a shocking disclosure: whatever "it" was, it has you asking "Why?"

The "Why" question is demanding and wants all your attention.

You question whether you could have/should have done something differently. You wonder if you missed something and could prevented whatever happened somehow. You ask yourself, others, and even God if you deserved it.

There may be things we can learn from a humble and honest look back, but for the most part, I think the "Why" question can keep us from moving forward.

It's hard to move forward when you are looking backward.

The lie says, "You have to figure out what happened before you can move forward."

And, like we said before, the best lies have some truth or fact to them, and so they go down more smoothly, but that little bit of poison can ruin you.

Yes, look back. Ask God if there is anything you need to see or to learn from what has happened, but DON'T GET STUCK THERE. Dissect what needs to be deconstructed, journal what needs to be processed, make amends where needed, pour your heart out to God, but then move on!

And, keep in mind, we rarely hear an answer to a direct "Why" question on this side of heaven.

If you have found yourself stuck looking back and/or asking "Why" can I encourage you not to take the bait?

Moving forward may be as simple as choosing to look forward and changing the question to, "What's next?" God seems to answer that one a lot more often!

Choose a goal - give something a try! Journey onward!
