What Are You Waiting For?

The Jewish people were waiting for a Messiah who would deliver them from oppression. They thought the oppression they needed to be delivered from was the dominant Roman government they lived under, but God had something much bigger in mind.

God made a way for them to be delivered from the oppression in their minds and spirits.

Sometimes I wonder how they couldn't see it - that Jesus came offering more than a temporary fix.

And yet...

Often, that is what I/we are looking for.

We want release from financial pressure, or for a relational situation to be resolved the way we want it to. We look for Him to show up where we think we need it, and there is nothing wrong with that, but sometimes He offers more than we even think to ask for.

He offers Peace IN the storms of life. He brings light TO the darkness.

What are you waiting for?

What if He shows up in a different way than you thought He would? Will you see it?

How can you/we be on the lookout for our Deliverer?

In this precious season of remembering the promise fulfilled, let's keep in mind that God does not change. He is still fulfilling promises and often in ways we aren't expecting.

Here are some ways I have seen Him at work:

  • We were given a pathway for health insurance that is going to save us thousands next year! (I was hoping for more funds to come in, God made a way for less funds to go out!)
  • A loved one of mine got a new job working for an org I never would have considered a good fit. (I never would have looked where she looked, and yet there it was and it fits well.)
  • I was asking for healing in my neck and found a way to stretch it that releases the pressure. (I was surprised by the simplicity and that the answer was there all along - I just didn't know about it.)
  • Another loved one got a significant raise. (She thought she was being considered for promotion, but instead she was given remuneration without additional responsibility.)

The list could go on.

The point is that God wants us to talk out our lives with Him. He may show up differently than we think, but He's mysterious like that.

One more time. What are you waiting for? Watch for Him - His deliverance may look different than you think!
