"Relax Into God's Presence"

The phrase "Relax into God's presence" was coined by Steve Cuss, author of "Managing Leadership Anxiety" and so much more. (Curious, click here.)

His premise is that God always offers us peace if we can still ourselves to receive it.

This thought poses so many coaching questions.

  • What keeps us from stilling ourselves to accept God’s peace?
  • Are there lies we have come to believe that supersede His peace in our lives?
  • Do different people have different thought patterns that keep them from relaxing into God's presence?
  • Should good coaching lead us into a place of peace?
  • Can quality action steps be accompanied by peace?
  • Is it possible to have peace in seasons of transition, waiting, or healing?
  • Are there times when peace is not what we should be experiencing?

Even a short word study on peace gives us a picture of what could be. We can have peace IN the midst of stuff, not just when everything is resolved. His peace is not what the world gives.

That is great news!

But it is counterintuitive to our human experience. For the most part, we don't experience peace while we are going through something. Obstacles in our personal journeys challenge our peace. When we face the angst of making a decision, or the cost of not making one, when we have unfavorable outcomes, when we have the need to process hurt, trauma, or drama, our natural response isn't peace.

As humans, we each seem to have our own go-to responses. Some of us avoid identifying negative emotions, and some of us overidentify with them. Some of us feel it's all our fault, while others tend to shift blame to others. Some of us put our hope in a better future, and some of us pine for the good ol' days.

All of these responses may have validity at different times in our lives, depending on what is happening, but that offer of peace is still out there.

So, what's a person to do?

Is there a way to truly relax into God's presence?

Quality Coaching could be the answer!

You can offer that place of peace to the people around you. Leaning into the concepts in Coaching Culture provides the skills needed to offer a safe place to process -whether that is in a formal coaching session or simply in using coaching concepts in regular conversations.

Our Coaching Culture class provides the foundational principles that can take your conversations to a peace-offering place. We also work through personal coaching goals as the class progresses as well.

Relaxing into God's presence is probably closer than we realize.

May God guide us all and help us to help others look to Him!
