Remote Control Starter, Ruby Red Slippers, and Us!
We just got a new car! How fun! And this is where the remote control starter comes in. When the salesman was showing us all the features of the new car, he showed us how we could start our car remotely and have the AC or the heat running before we got in. How awesome is that!? But when we turned in the keys for our old car - WE SAW THE SAME SYMBOL on the key fob!
We had that feature on our old car, and we never knew...The opportunity was there all along, but we didn't take advantage of it!
Dorothy had a similar experience when she finally got to talk to the Wizard of Oz and found out all she really had to do was tap her heels together, and she could go home.
Proverbs 4:11 says, "I am guiding you in the way of wisdom, and I am leading you on the right path."
I believe what we need for our next steps is already in us. It may not be easy to recognize. It may not be what we want it to be. It may be hard to hear the still small voice over the circumstances screaming for our attention, and it may take longer than we want, but it's in there.
Sometimes God gives us courage when we want relief, but courage is in there.
Sometimes God offers patience when we want things to move more quickly, but patience is available.
Sometimes we have to try a few things before one works when we want everything we touch to be golden on the first try, but endurance builds character and connection.

God's guidance is more available than we usually realize.
We also have joy with our troubles, because we know that these troubles produce patience. And patience produces character, and character produces hope. And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us. Romans 5:3-5,
