Remote Control Starter, Ruby Red Slippers, and Us!
We just got a new car! How fun! And this is where the remote control starter comes in. When the salesman was showing us all the features of the new car, he showed us how to start the car remotely and have the AC or the heat running before we got in. How awesome is that!? But when we turned in the keys for our old car - WE SAW THE SAME SYMBOL for remote starting on the key fob!
We had that feature on our old car, and we never knew...The opportunity was there all along, but we didn't take advantage of it!
Dorothy had a similar experience when she finally got to talk to the Wizard of Oz and found out that all she really had to do was tap her heels together to go home.
Proverbs 4:11 says, "I am guiding you in the way of wisdom, and I am leading you on the right path."
I believe what we need for our next steps is already in God’s heart for us, and because He lives in us, He wants to make those next steps known to us. It may not be easy to recognize. It may not be what we want it to be. It may be hard to hear the still small voice over the circumstances screaming for our attention, and it may take longer than we want, but His direction is in there.
Sometimes God gives us courage when we want relief, but His courage is in there for us.
Sometimes God offers patience when we want things to move more quickly, but patience is also available.
Sometimes we have to try a few things before one of them works, and most often we want everything we touch to be golden on the first try, but endurance builds character and connection.

God's guidance is more available than we realize. This passage best communicates what I am sharing with you:
We also have joy with our troubles, because we know that these troubles produce patience. And patience produces character, and character produces hope. And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us. Romans 5:3-5.
