Obstacle Illusion

There’s an unusual pathway near our home where you can see a quarry lake (that’s when a former quarry fills up with water) on one side of road about a 100 feet down. On the other side of the road is a steep drop about 300 feet to a river that is disconnected to the lake.

One day as we were walking down the path something unusual happened with the sun or something and the river appeared to be only 10 feet away. It must have been some odd kind of reflection. Both my husband and I noticed it and I said, “That’s weird, it must be some kind of obstacle illusion.”

Freudian slip perhaps. But I believe God had something in that phrase for us. Sometimes we think things are something they really aren’t.

What if the obstacle that has been holding you back is just an optical illusion?

What if there is a path around the hurdle you feel you can’t get over?

What if you could move forward in victory instead of living your life looking backward as a victim?

What if what you thought was fact was just a distorted lie lens that was keeping you from seeing the truth?

God always offers a plan!

I used to view life through the lie lens that said “If only someone important would recognize how my teaching could be helpful then they could open doors for me to have true impact.” But as I took that thought to God He was faithful to help me see theses truths.

  • I was already having true impact through my teaching.
I didn’t need to wait and hope for others to forward me, I just needed to knock on doors myself and see where He would open up possibilities.
  • How freeing! That doesn’t mean things were easy for me after that, it just means the obstacle was revealed as an illusion and removed from my life pathway!

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I used to feel limited as a woman leader. There were multiple experiences (facts) that had built that contributed to that belief. I could have given in and limited my sphere of contributions. But when I recognized the truth that God designed my mind and skill set as well as choose my gender I removed the limiting belief and kept knocking on doors. It was a tricky finding the right places to lead as a woman., but God made a way and I am welcome and wanted where I serve now.

Isaiah 48:17 “This is what the Lord says your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.'”

What do you feel is limiting you?

You can be free! You can move forward! You can find provision! You can have peace! You can make a difference! You can have impact!
